TPS22971: Is CT 0pF (floating) for 1.05 Vin rails and a fast turn-on time?

Part Number: TPS22971

Hi team,

My customer has a question TPS22971-

To double check, when it says the slew rate capacitor CT is 0 pF that means the pin should be left open and floating? for Vin = 1.05V rails and a fast turn-on time?

Also - on power down, one of the 1.05V load switched rails is required to discharge faster than the other. If they want to use the same device with the same internal discharge resistor, they would have to add an external discharge resistor to one of them. Would this have any sort of adverse effect on the device?

Thanks,

Lauren

  • Hi Lauren,

By CT=0pf, we mean that the CT pin should be left floating.

The internal pull down resistance is less than 700 Ohms at a voltage of 1.05V. I think using an external resistor would be beneficial in terms of discharge time but would also cause a constant load on the output. This device does not have a output discharge pin like some devices and so there will have to be a output pull down that is constantly active. I would not recommend this usually not because of damage for the device but rather since it may be inefficient.
