UCC27282-Q1: Suitability for GaNFET Driving

Part Number: UCC27282-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG1210

Hi TI,

Is UCC27282-Q1 recommended for GaNFET switching?

If not, what are the key characteristics of its unsuitability?

  • Hello Yoonseo,

Thank you for the interest in TI gate drivers. The one consideration that is likely the limitation of the UCC27282-Q1 is that man GaN Fets have a limited Vgs range of 6V maximum and a typical recommended voltage of 5V.

The UCC27282-Q1 has a minimum VDD and HB UVLO of 5.5V which results in a minimum gate drive voltage over the typical range for some GaN FETs and close to the abs max of 6V.

TI does have half bridge drivers targeting GaN FET's such as the LMG1210. I would suggest reviewing that device to see if it is a better fit for your application.
