BQ3060: RM, RSOC, FCC etc not updating even after battery discharge

I have a Battery Pack with BQ3060 Fuel Gauge. I am having a problem where the following registers do not seems to be updating:

Remaining Capacity 0x0F

Absolute State of Charge 0x0E

RSOC

This is even after multiple cycle where battery has drained. The battery pack is designed to power a motherboard after main power source looses the AC power. Motherboard circuitry includes CPU, DRAM DIMMs,PCI-e devices which can consume about 250W of power. When battery is supplying power, I would expect that battery capacity will go down significantly. The pack capacity is 1000mAh.

For instance RM register always shows 91%. and even FCC does not seems to change at all.

What could be the issue here?

Can you upload a log showing the issue and the .gg.

Hi Nick,

The Battery pack w/ fuel gauge is in our motherboard. It is Linux based.

How do I capture log? I don't have any of your special software running.

What is GPCCEDV?

Hi Mohammad,

The GPCCEDV tool is required for all our CEDV gauges to configure the gauge for a specific battery profile. If you have not completed this the gauge will not give any meaningful SOC / RC values.

For capturing the log we recommend you connect an ev2400.

Nick,

Update on my issue:

1. FCC, RSOC, Absolute State of Charge stop at 91%.

2. Full Design Capacity is 1100mAH. FCC shows 1007mAH.

As I mentioned that the Battery pack inside an embedded motherboard.

What could cause the registers in #1 above to stop at 91%. Is there a way to correct this in the running system,?

Hi Mohammad,

Have you used GPCCEDV? If not you must use this first. If your still having issues after we can look at more.

The device will not work correctly without running the tool.
