TPS1HB08-Q1: How much consumption current while IOUT is not equal to 0A?

Part Number: TPS1HB08-Q1

Hi team,

How much TPS1HB08-Q1 consumption current while IOUT is not equal to 0A?

Figure 4. Quiescent Current (IQ) vs Temperature says quiescent current or consumption current @ IOUT=0A.
How about consumption current in this IC in the case of IOUT>0A?

Could we consider consumption current or "the input current from VBB pin" = "consumption current @ IOUT=0A" + "output current flowing through VOUT"?

Regards,
Ochi

  • Ochi-san,

Your logic for calculating the current consumption is correct. Do note, however, that the TPS1HB08-Q1 is a low-RON device meant to handle up to 11A continuous load current. Generally in these situations the operating current when ON is not a careabout and the off-state current consumption is what is considered. As this is an automotive device this tends to be the careabout on the off state as the upstream power supply is generally a battery.

  • Hi Tim,

Thank you so much for your explanation including general use case.

I understand how ON state consumption current @ IOUT>0 is calculated and off-state current consumption is cared about in general for automotive apps.

    Regards,
    Ochi
