TPS2372: PoE input filter for NoN-Isolated design

Part Number: TPS2372
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01463

Dear *,

we selected TPS2372 for PD and on the PoE voltage we have two DCDC connected.

1) Should we only have one input filter like in TIDA-01463 ?

2) How is the input filter calculated in non-isolated designs ? because we have different buck and LED driver.

Best Regards,

David.

  • Hello David,

It is up to you if you want the input filter. It is not a requirement of PoE, but i would advise putting some sort of filtering.

For calculations, they are all essentially the same -- use the standard equations for capacitors and inductors. The only differences are calculating the voltage and currents on a node, since they will be affect by the topology. If the node is switching, then duty cycle and switching frequency have to be accounted for.
