Hi,

I am trying to analyze the stability of TPSM84428 power module that is used in my design.

[1] What is the crossover frequency for this regulator design for 1V@4A. I am getting switching frequency of 401.037 kHz.

[1] Is there any average model available? This can help in drawing bode plots and closed loop output impedance curve.

[2] I there a way to do bode plot simulation? I am not seeing that option in webench for this device.

Hi Binayak,

You can use the attached TPS54824 average simulation to simulate the TPSM84424. They key component values that should be kept fixed to match the modules internal component values are:

Inductor value and DCR
2.00k resistor and 1.8nF cap on the COMP pin. Adjust/add RTT by editing the RTT parameter at the top.

I believe I have zipped up the necessary files for you to open and run this but let me know if you have any issues.

Thanks for your help.

I am finding difficulty in importing/opening the average model (P-Spice model) from your zip file in TINA-TI. Instead of the model opening as a block, a netlist opens and when I try to compile it, I get the following error:

I think I am missing something. Am I doing something wrong or is there an issue with the file?

You can use the model in PSpice-for-TI instead of TINA-TI.

PSpice-for-TI is available for free on ti.com and you can download it here https://www.ti.com/tool/PSPICE-FOR-TI

I was actually looking to make it work in TINA-TI software itself. Is the issue I mentioned in my mail some error in the model or my incorrectness in porting the model into TINA-TI?

Hi Binayak,

ti.com already has a PSpice average model in TINA-TI for the TPS54824. You can download the model and make the changes that Anthony suggested and use the model in TINA-TI directly. The PSpice model is encrypted - so you will not be able to import that into TINA-TI.

As the TINA-TI model is readily available, you dont need to import.

I apologize for the delay. I had thought I responded last week but it appears my post didn't go through for some reason. Attached is a TINA-TI model configured to simulate the TPSM84424 in case you still need it.

EDIT: I'm having a little trouble attaching. Will try again this afternoon. Attachment below. Also another comment I want to add is the reason the import to TINA-TI did not work is the PSPICE model is encrypted.
