LM66100: Figure 17 related issues for LM66100

Part Number: LM66100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2116

Hi TI expert

I have two issues about Figure 17 'Dual Ideal Diode ORing for Continuous Output Power' in LM66100 Datasheet.

1. I see that Vin1(5V) is higher than Vin2(3.3V), can it possible that Vin1 is equal at Vin2 ?

2. what is the resistance value next to Vin1?

Best regards,

Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

    1. No. LM66100 is built for OR-ing two non similar voltage sources. Similar voltages cannot be OR-d successfully with this device. For your use case, I would recommend using a PowerMUX like TPS2116 with which priority can be set and similar voltages can be used.

    2. This resistor is used to limit the current flowing into the ST pin from VIN when ST pulls low. Standard values like 10kOhm are acceptable here.
