BQ24052: Charge current of BQ24052 when D+ and D- lines floated

Part Number: BQ24052

Hallo,

I have a design in which the D+ and D- pins of BQ24052 are floating. The device is powered through the micro USB port of an adaptor.  Is it possible to charge the battery with 500 mA or is it limited to 100 mA when the data lines are floating?

best regards,

Adarsh

  • Hi Adarsh,

The data lines are how the charger is able to distinguish if it is a USB input. If the device sees a short between the lines it determines an adapter is connected. If it sees a pulldown on D+ and D-, a USB source is connected. For proper operation, it is not recommended to leave the D= and D- floating.

ISET2 will determine the USB input current limit or Adapter source limit (High = 500mA, Float = 100mA, Low = programmed through ISET).
