UCC23513: High speed optocouplers

Part Number: UCC23513

Sir/Madam,

I am looking for an optocoupler where its output is to be 15V with a propagation delay in few nsec. I have 3.3v logic that to be shifted to 15v logic which is isolated. Kindly suggest schemes if any.

  • Hello Beesetty,

Gate drivers is a quite overkill for this, but can technically be used for this purpose. THey are intended for driving FET/IGBT gates with high frequency,

Isolated gate drivers cant meet propagation delay on the order of 1ns, however. Digital isolators are very quick and some could meet htis requirement.

Are you driving a MOSFET or IGBT? If no, please check digital isolator here.

You will need additional 5V supply for the isolator afaik none can do 3.3v to 15V directly. You can use something like FET or NPN with a pullup to reach the final 15V.

If you are driving a gate, please let us know your application.

  • Hello James,

I have an application of IGBT inverter where it is controlled by a C2000 controller card. The C2000 microcontroller gives 3.3V PWM pulses and are to be shifted to 15V logic. These 15V pulses to be given to a IGBT driver card which drives the IGBT inverter. These 15V pulses are to be isolated from the C2000 microcontroller ground. As  UCC23513 is having propagation delay in nseconds, I'd like to use it for isolation purpose only rather than driving IGBT. These pulses from  UCC23513 is given to the IGBT driver cards which further drives the IGBT inverter.

Kindly recommend if I can use UCC23513 for isolation purpose or any other IC's which are fast enough(min propagation delay) and are rated at minimum 15V.

  • Hi, Beesetty,

yes, we have other customers using these parts for similar applications.
