TPS62824A: Efficiency of WEBENCH

Part Number: TPS62824A

Hi team,

I am using WEBENCH to simulate the efficiency of TPS62824A. But I found the result of WEBENCH(>92%) is different from datasheet(<85%).

Considering TPS62824A is forced PWM device, so it should not have such a high efficiency when IOUT is small.

Condition: VIN=5V, VOUT=1.8V, IOUT=0.2A

Could you tell me which is correct? If WEBENCH is incorrect, what should be the reason why it shows a wrong result?

Best,

Zeming

  • Hi Zeming,

    Thank you for your question.

In general, WEBENCH uses complex algorithms to estimate the efficiency and other operating values. We try our best to match the simulation results with bench data but you should always refer to the datasheet for more accurate information.

However, in your particular case I think that there is an error in the WEBENCH model of the device, since it doesn't seem to be working in forced PWM.

I will check internally to get it fixed.

Please ask again if you need further support.

    Thanks,

    Stefano
