TPS543820: RPY0014A Land Pattern Problems

Part Number: TPS543820
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS543620

Hey all -

It seems that the RPY0014A land pattern available for download from UltraLibrarian through TI's product page for the part is incorrect.

It does not match the recommended land pattern. It also has Pin 11 drawn incorrectly enough for me to question it.

Does anyone know if the datasheet recommended land pattern has been tested and is correct?

It is also concerning, as there are some kind of bizarre spacings: ie. 0.7006mm for a nominal 0.7mm dimension on the package drawing. It's also missing a couple dimensions required to define pin 10.

If someone can help clear this up before I send out a PCB design, I'd really appreciate it.

thank you -

Stephen

  • Hi Stephen,

The existing datasheet land pattern is what was used to create the footprint on our EVM so there should not be any issues there. I've checked the one that comes from ultra librarian with our EVM layout. The footprint will fit but the pad sizes are a bit bigger than what we use and I see how pin 11 on the one side doesn't have a straight line. Thank you for pointing this out.

I also checked the TPS543620 footprint from ultra librarian and this looks much better. I'm not sure what happened with the TPS543820 and I will request we have this one updated to use the same as the TPS543620. These devices use the same package.

The questions you have on the dimensions are good ones and we have actually already gotten them so we are in the process of updating the drawing with more detail. Attached below is the latest drawing that will soon be in the datasheet.
