CSD97395Q4M: Circuit review request

Part Number: CSD97395Q4M

Hi,

My customer is developing a product using CSD97395Q4M.

Please confirm your inquiry regarding the circuit below.

1. I want to change the capacitance value of the capacitor connected to the boot pin from 1uF to 100nF, is there any problem?

2. The circuit connected to the boot pin indicated on the datasheet is composed of Resistor + Capacitor.

Is the resistor essential to be applied?

If so, what should be applied to the capacitance value of the resistor?

3. If you have application note material, please let me know.

Thanks.

Regards,

MJ

  • Hi MJ,

There is no issue to use 100nF boot Cap. We do recommend to add resistor (Rboot) in-series with Cboot, or at least keep footprint on layout in case if the Rboot is needed.

The Rboot can help to reduce the VSW ringing with less hit on the efficiency than the snubber, as the Rboot only slow down the turn on of HS FET. Higher Rboot value can provide higher suppression effect on VSW ringing. The value of Rboot should be decided based on the bench validation result with acceptable VSW ringing performance. And the Rboot value shouldn't  affect the Cboot value your picked.
