BQ25171-Q1: Thermistor importance? Do we have a reference design?

Part Number: BQ25171-Q1

Hi Team,

Is it key that a thermistor be connected between the IC and the battery can (i.e. replace the NTC with a standard 10k resistor)? Wanted to see if the fast-charge functionality might be affected.

Do you have any reference designs for how the NTC thermistor needs to be connected to the battery can in order to work?

Regards,

RJ

  • Hello

If the thermistor is not required for application connect a fixed 10k ohm resistor from TS to GND for normal operation.

If a thermistor is required see section 7.3.2.4 of the preliminary data  sheet for design details.  Data sheet can be requested on the product web page.

A common type of NTC is the 103AT-2 can be used, this will provide operating range from 0C to 45C.
