LM5060-Q1: Can I use LM5060-Q1 to reduce inrush current?

Hello TI experts,

I asked that TPS22810-Q1 can reduce inrush current or not before ;

the expert recommended LM5060-Q1 instead.

so i am asking you again this device can reduce inrush current.

Vin and Vout : 12V

output current : 6A~12A

expected inrush current without any device : about 1.2A

is LM5060-Q1 suitable to reduce inrush current under this condition?

if there any reference design for this, please let me know.

and it is okay recommending other device for my purpose.

Hi Chase,

Yes, LM5060-Q1 is able to manage inrush current. With a capacitor on the Gate pin, the slew-rate of the output voltage can be controlled to limit the inrush currents.

Hi chase,

Please refer Section 3.2.2.7 in https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva673a/slva673a.pdf

Basically, we use two equations to calculate Cgate..

I_inrush = Cout * (dvout/dt)

Igate = Cgate * (dvout/dt) = Cgate * I_inrush / Cout

where Igate is 24uA for LM5060.
