BQ769142: Different cell configuration design

Part Number: BQ769142
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76952EVM

Hello!

We are designing 13S and 10S BMS for a client and I BQ769142 turned out to be the best option (as price is critical due to high volume productcion).

1) Does there exist a development board with this IC? (I don't see it, but I assume that BQ76952EVM could be used with resoldered IC?)

2) Is it ok, for 13 S configuration simply leave VC14 pin floating? In case of 10S design, do we need anything special or can we also leave VC11, VC12A/B, VC13A/B floating (not populated)? (so we keep same PCB for both, 13 and 10 S)

Regards,

Gregor

  • Hi Gregor,

Yes, you can use the BQ76952EVM and replace the device.

To reduce the cell count, you will need to short one of the cell inputs. The EVM User Guide shows examples for doing this and this is also described in the datasheet. So to use the same PCB, you will need to have 0 ohm resistors that are populated for reducing the cell count when changing from 13S to 10S.

    Best regards,

    Matt
