Hello. I have an application with a 2s2p LiPo battery pack. Each of the 4 cells can be replaced by the user so I can't be sure they are from the same bin / manufacturer.
I'm planning on using the BQ25792 battery charger / PMIC for this device. However, this charger does not balance the individual cells during charging or discharging. I believe I need a separate part that can do this. Does TI recommend a simple cell balancer for this size of battery pack? Is there a similar charger / PMIC that has cell balancing built in?
This is a consumer application so part cost is very sensitive. I'd also be open to arguments about cell balancing not being needed.
