TPS62742: TPS62740/TPS62742

Part Number: TPS62742
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62740,

Hello

The datasheet suggests (to me) that TPS62742 can be used as a drop in replacement for TPS62740. If I do this can we safely say there will be no change in EMC signature, switching frequency will be the same, efficiency will not be degraded (especially at very low currents 10-15uA) etc - or would all this need to be shown by putting the replacement device through the design-in process as if we were starting from scratch? Thanks for your help.

Best regards

Des

  • Hi Des,

    Thanks for your question.

The two devices are pretty similar, but they still have some differences (mainly the switch current limits, in order to allow an higher current capability).

I don't expect that you will find any major differences, but I would advise you to check the parameters (if any) that was already critical for your design with TPS62740.

Please ask again if you need further support.

    Thanks,

    Stefano
