BQ25302: question about external power path

Hello

I've two questions about the external power path.

1. Is it necessary to add external power path for normal device such as mobile phone? the purpose is for better protection of battery? (prevent customers to charge and discharge at the same time)

2. what's the suggest value for R?

Hi,

Powerpath is when you wish to supply a SYS load directly from the adapter while charging the battery, and if adapter is absent, then battery can supply the SYS. This allows SYS to be powered even when battery is deeply discharged. The resistor R is to make sure the gate is not floating and that it is pulled down to a known level (GND). You can use 10k.

We don't have specific selection part number. The choice is up to the designer.
