TPS76833-EP: TPS76833

Part Number: TPS76833-EP

This power supply is not working for me.   I am using a ceramic cap which should have a low esr..   The part is flickering too much.   The data sheet has an electrolytic cap.   Is it necessary.   I believe my problem has something to do with the capacitor.

  • Hi Daniel,

Would you happen to have scope shots of the part flickering? Is the part oscillating or is there simply too much noise on the output?

How large is the load being supported by this device?

If the part is oscillating, there could be an issue with the output capacitor values (where you will have to increase it). Depending on your PCB connections, distance to the load, and capacitor characteristics - the output region could be causing instability.

Page 14 details that: Equivalent series resistance (ESR) refers to the total series resistance, including the ESR of the capacitor, any series resistance added externally, and PWB trace resistance to Cout.

    and specifically details:

Also, If you are not using the PG signal, you can just ground the pin for improved thermal performance. ,

    Best,
