TPS65400-Q1: loop comp calc's for power designer

Part Number: TPS65400-Q1

i'm trying to work out the comp loop values using the web based power designer.  the tool seems to get stuck on L values (very narrow range), and i don't trust the loop comp values as a result.  if i look at the equations for the values, i get x10 or more different results for the Rc, Cc, Croll.    i then tried the power stage designer tool, and used the loop calculator to try and get results.  again i got results quite different from the other tools (although there are parameters in the Gain info i don't understand).  I am doing this for all four rails, i'd like to see about getting the same values for all four if it's possible.  any guidance?

  • Hi

I would like to recommend that you may use the equations first to calculate the parameters including inductor and compensation values, and then change the parameters on the web based power designer to keep the same as calculation (the parameters can be changed manually), so that you can check whether the converter works well. You can also use Pspice model to have a check. The parameters of the EVM in the user guide can also be a guidance, since we have checked that in our lab.

Anyway, the compensation values can be flexible, calculation is based on ideal model, so simulation tools can be used to check. The simulation model can be different from the practical case, but it won't differ a lot.
