BQ24610: Chip damage

Part Number: BQ24610

Hi,

I have started to use BQ24610 in order to charge a Li-ION battery of 2x5 cells, up to 21V.

The essence of the problem in the following:

Our system is externally powered, we only use the BQ24610 to charge the battery, and we have found that when we connect the battery when the system is unpowered, somehow the BQ24610 burns, because it stops responding (for example, we don't observe 3V3 in the VREF pin). It seems that there is a reverse current from the battery to the system. When we use another board, first powering the board and after connecting the battery, it works perfectly fine. This "burn effect" has happened in three circuit boards.Sheet1.SchDoc
