    Hi Kuramochi-san, 

    For LP317N, NPN Darlington output topology provides naturally low output impedance and an output capacitor is optional. To support maximum current and lowest temperature, 2.5-V headroom is recommended (VI – VO ).

    Figure 10. Input-output Voltage Differential vs Temperature provides the typical dropout for 100mA and 500mA loads. Due to the age of the device, the dropout number is not listed in the Electrical Characteristics and I would not recommend using this device if the headroom is less than 2.5V.
