UCC28782: UCC24650 VS MP6908

Part Number: UCC28782
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28730, UCC24650, , UCC24612

We are also implementing a design using UCC28730 for low power very high-efficiency application up to 10w offline power.

In the design, we see UCC24650 in the UCC28730 datasheet.

While the design of UCC28782 suggested using MP6908 due to its fast operation while UCC24612 was apparently lacking some performance in these applications.

Seems UCC24650 COULD replace MP6908- in which case we rather stick to one part for SR control of a series of products and not jump from one to the other just to squeeze out some marginal benefits.

Is that possible?

Can we use SR controller to be UCC24650 across the UCC287xx family of products?

We have boards routed & all but still can  change to be UCC24650

-robin.

  • Hi Robin,

Please note that UCC24650 is not a SR controller but a wake up monitor controller.

UCC24650 is intended to be used with UCC28730. since -730 can running at ~30khz switching frequency to saving the standby power. once transient load happens . the primary controller can't immediately detect the output drop on secondary side. With the help of UCC24650 , UCC28730 can soon start generate pulse to hold on voltage drop .

    Thanks.
