LMZM33606: Modules in parallel with current limit.

Part Number: LMZM33606

For my application I need 10 amps with a variable voltage (0 to 14) having 14 volts maximum with 16 volts in. What I am thinking is to use high side current sense. The sense resistors for each supply will drop 0.2 volts at maximum (0.4 total). This drop should account for variations in adjustment voltage tolerance for each module. I also plan on using the switch node of one module reduced to a logic level to sync the operating frequency of the slave. I may use an exclusive or gate for the sync signal not knowing which edge corresponds to the turn on of the mosfet in the module. May also not enable the slave module until the load exceeds five amps. What are your thoughts?

  • Hi Jim,

I'd imagine  you can use this blog for reference to create a dual phase/ current sharing design with the two power modules.

Again you would need to verify but the external differential op amp circuit would help balance the current sharing.

The LMZM33606 module has an internal inductor so you can use a current sense resistor at VOUT to inject current into the differential op amp circuit.

    Regards,
