BQ24640: Should additional protection circuits be configured when using the bq24640 IC?

hello~

The capacitor you are trying to use is a hybrid capacitor from Vinatech.

3.8 per cell, 3 connected in series, total 11.4V.

We are considering bq24640 for charging ic.

If you use bq24640ic, ask if you don't need to use PCM or BMS circuits.

    Hi,

       BQ24640 has some integrated protection such as output overvoltage protection (VOV_RISE), thermal shutdown (internal TSHUT and TS pin), and input voltage protection (VACOV and VUVLO), ensure super capacitor safety. If more protection is required you can consider using BMS circuit and decision is up to end designer.
