Dear Sir,
I am using BQ2040.

Please suggest a low-cost/less component count external voltage regulator to power up the BQ2040 with voltage 5V.

Available Input voltage range: 6V DC to 12 VDC.

Hi Murthy,

This recently got moved to the LDO product line from the Battery Gauge team. We can certainly suggest some LDO's however I'm unsure of how much current the regulator needs to provide

Below is a link to our LDO product selection tool, I've narrowed the list to devices that have a minimum input voltage of at 6V or lower and a maximum input voltage of 12V or higher. That gets us to 161 LDO families which could be used, so you can use the filters to limit the selection further to better suite your specific application requirements.

Dear Sir,

I have selected LP2985-50DBVR with 5 Volt Fixed Output Voltage regulator, 150 mA Output Current (I hope this is sufficient to power IC BQ2040).

Now I am looking for Battery Gauge schematic review.

Hello Murthy,

This is one of our oldest battery gauges, if possible I would recommend updating to the bq40z50 or other newer gauge. Most of the software related for configuration of this gauge is no longer supported.

Follow the schematic provided in the datasheet for a reference if you are not able to switch to a newer gauge.
