LM5170-Q1: Can LM5170 support 5V to 60V boost with 15W?

Part Number: LM5170-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5170, LM5156

Hi team,

Can LM5170 support 5V to 60V boost with 15W?

Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

The answer is yes if your switching frequency is less than 300kHz.  The available max duty cycle is (1 - 250ns x Fsw).  However,  it appears to be an expensive solution for just 15W.

Instead, could you consider the LM5156 operating in DCM such that it can support without hitting the max duty cycle?  Which sounds like a much better cost effective solution.
