UCC12051-Q1: Which internal transformer driver circuit is used and how does it operate?

Part Number: UCC12051-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC12040, , SN6501-Q1, UCC12050

Hi team,

Could you tell me which internal transformer driver circuit is used and how it operates?

Is it as same as SN650x?

Regards,
Ochi

  • Hi Ochi,

UCC12040, UCC12050 and UCC12051-Q1 are unique compared to SN6501-Q1. SN650x is an open loop (unregulated output voltage), push-pull driver with integrated MOSFETs, operating at frequencies up to 410kHz and driving an external isolation transformer and secondary side rectifier. UCC12051-Q1 is a fully integrated, closed loop DC/DC converter module that includes primary and secondary side MOSFETs, isolation transformer and a regulated isolated secondary side output voltage packaged in a 3.5mm high, 16-pin, SOIC. The 8MHz frequency of UCC12051-Q1 is necessary to reduce the size and profile of the transformer. UCC12051-Q1 uses several proprietary control and transformer design techniques aimed at reducing EMI, enabling certification to CISPR 25, class 5.
