LM385-2.5-N: M3 Variant Reverse Voltage Tested Limit

Part Number: LM385-2.5-N

Hi Team,

Our customer is looking for the tested limit spec of the reverse breakdown voltage of the LM385M3-2.5/NOPB variant of LM385-2.5-N. The datasheet shows the characteristics for its different variants. However, it does not explicitly show the reverse breakdown voltage for the LM385M3-2.5/NOPB variant.

Would it be the same (or similar) to that of the tested limit for LM385-2.5-N or LM385B-2.5-N? Can you help us clarify or provide this to our customer?

Thanks in advance!

Kind Regards,

Jejomar

  • LM385M3-2.5/NOPB will have the same parameter limits listed under LM385M3-2.5-N in the characteristics tables

  • Jejomar, Can you please confirm if my post answered your question? Thanks ajay

  • Hello Ajay,

Many thanks for your response. However, it seems that the datasheet doesn't seem to have the requested spec for the LM385M3-2.5variant. It shows the tested operating current but not for the reverse breakdown voltage. Are you pertaining to the same spec as the LM385-2.5-N? Can you clarify this for us?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind Regards,

    Jejomar

  • Short answer is what I wrote at first. i.e. LM385M3-2.5/NOPB has the same specs as the line items related to LM385M3-2.5-N

I hope my below elaboration helps; let me know if you still have questions. Otherwise, feel free to close the thread:

The B in the LM385B-2.5-N refers to the "B" (or better) accuracy grade. The LM385M3-2.5.N minimum operating current is listed in a separate row because it is different than the others. It is listed in the same column as the LM385-2.5-N (without the B grade in the name), which is a hint that it belongs to the parts without the "B" accuracy grade. The first (reverse breakdown voltage) row of that same table lists the reverse breakdown voltage range you seek. Hope this explains my answer further:

It may help if I explain the "-N" suffix history. There is no real orderable part number with that suffix. The "-N" suffix belongs to part numbers with the National Semiconductor heritage. When National Semiconductor was acquired by TI, both companies had product pages starting with LM385 or LM285. The "-N" suffix was added to distinguish the 2. On the datasheets of these devices where only the prefix such as LM385-2.5 was previously listed, the "-N" suffix was added (with the hope of clarity and separation from the other LM385 devices). In the orderable parts table, an "X" is added for such "-N" parts when they are in the large reels and "/NOPB" is added to indicate RoHS compliance:
