LM5180: LM5180 VIN pin has to connect to the Flyback input?

HI Team,

My customer is asking if Vin pin has to tie to the flyback input for LM5180? Can they add a diode between the point A and B? The thought is to enable Vin pin higher than 4.5V when the input is dropping around or below 4.5V.

Is there any risk for below circuitry? Can you explain more why?

Ted,

VIN must be tied to the primary winding of the transformer. The device needs to sense the voltage across this primary winding to properly regulate the output. So you cannot use this diode.
