BQ25730EVM: Need to use R8 resistor in the BQ25730EVM development board

Part Number: BQ25730EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25730

Hello,

Reviewing the schematics of this Evaluation Board (BQ25730EVM), I noticed there is a resistor R8 with a value of 0 ohms and also is listed in the BOM (Qty=1). Is this resistor actually required? See figure 3-7 in the board specifications. If the resistor is not needed, can the components in the middle of its terminals (Q7, Q6, Z1, R10, C22, R9, R14, Q9A, Q9B) be also omitted? I suspect that the signal CHG_OK coming out of the BQ25730 will enable or disable this couple of transistors (Q6 and Q7) depending if VBUS falls below 3.2 V or rises above 26.8 V, but I just want to confirm that if all the mentioned components can be removed or are they essential or not?

Thanks,

Jorge
