TPS62160-Q1: Regulated Output Voltage Range

Part Number: TPS62160-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62160

It is designed to output 3.3V by receiving 12V input using TPS62160.

For the feedback resistance value, 470K and 150K were applied, referring to Figure 7. 3.3-V / 1-A Power Supply in the Datasheet.

Regardless of whether there is an output load or not, all of the produced development boards are measuring 3.22~3.27V, which is lower than 3.3V, so we ask to confirm whether the measured values are within the normal range.

When measuring FB voltage, it is measured around 0.77~0.78V.

Schematic

  • Hi Andy,

The output value is kind of lower. The schematic is blurry and I could not see it clearly. If it is possible, please send the schematic/layout to my email:  nancy_zhang@ti.com. I can double check them.  I am wondering why you add 2nd inductor series with first one?  Where do you measure the output voltage? before 2nd inductor or after 2nd inductor? You should measure output voltage at sense point which is left side of 2nd inductor. FB pin should be 0.8V. What is resistor tolerance for 470k/150k? 1% or 5%?

    Here are my suggestions:

    1. Short 2nd inductor which is not needed. This may cause voltage drop.

    2.  Try change 470/150k resistors to 1% tolerance?  We recommend lower resistor value for higher accuracy.

    3.  Check the layout if the sense point is the point you measured.

    Thanks,

    Nancy
