TPS40422: About crossover frequency pass criterion in the Bode plot measurement

Part Number: TPS40422

Hi Experts,

I have seen some documents that will define the pass criterion of the crossover frequency(Fco), for example, Fsw/30<Fco<Fsw/5. I want to know whether this pass criterion is necessary? In my result, both the gain margin and phase margin look good. Please take a look at the attached below. Could you let me know what is the recommended range of Fco for TPS40422? If I don't want to adjust it what will it impact?

Regards,

April

  • The switching frequency here looks like 500kHz?

I do not see issues with this closed loop bode plot. There is good gain margin/phase margin and the crossing slope is -20dB/decade.

Just one thing i would point out is that the gain is very flat around crossing between 50k-100k. The transient response will be similar between crossover at 50kHz and your crossover at 110kHz because there is no gain in these frequencies.
