BQ500212A: Intermittent restarts when RX placed on charger

Part Number: BQ500212A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51050B, BQ500212

Our client has been experiencing field returns for charging bases that restart charging several times when the RX device is placed on the charger. I've used the I2C interface to narrow down the issue, and I seem to have found two issues.

One is that the FOD set in the circuit seems to have been set too sensitive, as it occasionally triggers the PLD state machine, and restarts the charging process, easy enough fix.

The second I'm having trouble figuring out. I'm pulling the bytes from PLD_MONITOR, RX_STATS, and TX_STATS. The parasitic power loss seems to be well below the threshold, but I notice before a restart, the bad message counter increases (and the good message counter doesn't). We get 10 bad messages in a row and then the charger triggers a reset.

Other important notes:

- RX device is BQ51050B
- Problematic restart cycle is intermittent, can be difficult to duplicate
- After a few restarts, charging is very stable, and will charge indefinitely until device is removed
