Programming Help

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z50, EV2400, BQSTUDIO

Hi team,

One of my customers is beginning to do board testing with the BQ40z50-R2 and there were a few logistical questions that came up. Please see below!

  1. Will the battery pack with a fresh, out-of-the-box BQ40Z50-R2 work without being programmed?
  2. If programming is needed, what would be the best method to program a small batch (20 boards)?
  3. If programming is needed, do I just use the latest firmware for the BQ40Z50-R2?

Thanks,

Jacob

  • Hi Jacob,

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by programming. Do you mean programming the firmware or just changing parameters on the BQ40z50? I'm going to assume the latter to answer your questions.

    1. Technically yes it will work without changing any parameters; however, for best performance they should change some values (i.e. the chemID, design capacity, etc.) to cater towards their specific application. Also, depending on their application, it could be advantageous to upgrade to the latest firmware version.

    2. For a small batch, it would be easiest to program the boards using either gg or srec files in bqStudio with the EV2400.

    3. It is not necessary to upgrade to the latest firmware version unless they want the added features.

    Best,
