Customer wants to know which thermal spec can be used for temp calculation.

Is it 'junction to board' or 'junction to top' or 'junction to air' ?

If you can measure the case temperature, then you can use Psi-JT to calculate the junction temperature.

If the intent is to get a rough estimate of Tj based on a given Ta, then you can use the thetaJA of the EVM (it assumes that your layout is similar to the EVM) and use below formula.

Tj = (ThetaJA * Pd )+ Ta

If you use the WEBENCH tool, it will help calculate the Tj as well.
