BQ25792: BQ25792

Part Number: BQ25792

Dear

I would like to ask you about the use of bq25792.

Can bq25792 only add PD controller to realize fast charging?

With the addition of PD controller, is the maximum charging current of one battery cell also 2A?

Does bq25792 have a way to select different charging currents through hardware settings without adding PD controller? If I use battery in an urgent way, I can choose a high current gear. If I don't use it, I can

choose to charge slowly. Can I do this in a way?

  Thank you very much!

  • Hi,

The BQ25792 does not require a PD controller to reach max battery charge current.  It will provide 5A as long as its input power source can provide the necessary input power.  The BQ25792 charge current cannot be directly controlled with external hardware.  It has a charge current register (REG0x03) that allows the charge current to be set from 50mA-5A in 10mA steps.  You can limit the input current, which limits both system current and battery charge current, using the ILIM_HIZ pin resistor.

    Regards,
