BQ24800: Hybrid Power Boost during no charging

Hi, BQ24800 support team,

In notebook PC application, EC is disabled the charging mode by writing Charge Voltage=0 and Charge Current=0 when gas gauge in battery pack is identified the Fully Charged. At least, the converter is disabled. I think the time until the converter as boost mode is restarted takes for a long period.

Is the Hybrid Power mode available in no charging mode?

The condition ;

- Adapter is plugged

- Battery Pack = Fully Charged(FC bit=1)

- Charge Voltage=0 Charge Current=0

- Watchdog timer is not expired

- Charge Option3(0x37) bit 2=1(Hybrid Power Boost Mode=Enable)

Hi, Tamio,

Yes, you can enter hybrid boost from non-charging mode, as long as the input current is higher than the input current limit threshold(>1536mA). You don't need to set charge voltage =0. Charge current=0 alone will disable the charging. The response time is usually very fast, as specified in register 0x37.
