LM7310: Does LM73100 have any protection mechanism when the back to back FETs are shorted or when Input short to output ?

Hi Team, 

My customer is currently design the PD controller and the power path, and they are concerning one scenario which is when the back-to-back FETs are shorted or when Input short to output, does LM73100 have any protection mechanism ?
Since one of the project spec is they need to meet the IEC 62368-3 requirement.

They are considering when one port is short, the other port is working even at 20V, the other one port typeC connector will have 20V, it is not safe. 

Customer original design is our TPS65994 + CSD87501L, and I think CSD87501L is just a pure back-to-back FETs, so I think it should not have any protect when short event.

So I think LM73100 may be the good solution here, how do you think?

    In IEC62368-3 testing ,is a physical short place between IN and OUT? Also when we say that back to back short ,what is causing them to short?

    Once we place short between IN and OUT then the device does not have control on that current flow path and it can't provide protection. So not only LM73100 but other devices also may not be able stop current flow in that case. 

    LM73100 does provide other protection features such as protection from short at output, overvoltage protection ,undervoltage protection, slew rate control, overtemperature protection, current monitor and power good indication and is suitable in this application.

    I also check this question with our PD controller team, and they said the IEC62368-3 is a new test spec, our PD controller will support this protect function in the next generation product, so I think this should be protect by controller instead of power path.
