TPS53622: Backwards Compatibility of TPS53622A

Hello,

I am aware that the main difference with the TPS53622A is the added ability to program the OVP threshold to 200mV or 400mV. From that, I am confident the A-part would work just fine in a system designed with the non-A-part.

My question is: Would the programming file (.csv) from a TPS53622 work on the TPS53622A? The first line in our programming file suggests it would not work:

Comment,Verifying IC_DEVICE_ID is 0x22 (TPS53622)
BlockRead,0x60,0xAD,0x0122

If it does not work, is there a template file for the TPS53622A? I tried to create one with the GUI (Version 7.3.1) but it was not under the supported device list.

It should be OK to use a TPS53622 configuration file as TPS53622A. Just double check the OVP setting after programming, as you might get a different value now that it is programmable in TPS53622A. You can replace those lines with

Comment,Verifying IC_DEVICE_ID is 0x2A (TPS53622A)
BlockRead,0x60,0xAD,0x012A
