BQ24650: Regarding cutoff voltage provision

Part Number: BQ24650

Dear Support team,

I want to use EQ24650 in my design. I have some queries regarding that please guide me.

1) In my application, I want 3 terminals, 1 is for solar panels, 2nd is for battery charging and 3rd is for connect load. so when the battery is charging at the same time I get regulated output.

2)is there in current limiting for the load which I have connected. one is battery and another is my system, so want to know the current limit for the system.

3)it is possible to set the cutoff voltage? that requirement is because if there is no set of cutoff then my battery is a drain to threshold volt which is 2.11Vand when start charging through solar it will take time. if there is a provision I will set the cutoff voltage after that voltage my battery does not give voltage so the load does not get the output. so charging time is minimize and the battery will not drain completely.

Please guide.

Thanks

  • Hello,

    1. Please refer to the BQ24650 EVM user guide to see an example of how to use a diode to enable a system load. In the example, a diode connects the SRN pin to the SYS pin. When the adapter is supplied, it provides power to the SYS while reverse-biasing the diode. When the adapter is removed, the battery supplies power to the SYS through the diode.

    2. The input current of the solar panel will be regulated by the MPPSET pin. If the MPPSET pin drops below 1.2 V, the charger maintains the input voltage by reducing the charge current.

    3. You will need a protector IC to prevent the battery voltage from dropping too low.

    Thanks,

    Mike Emanuel
