LM34923: LM34923

Part Number: LM34923

Has anyone used this regulator for negative voltage regulation. I need a pre-regulator for + and - voltages. About 30V and -30V out at less than 0.5A. The inputs can be somewhere between +-65 and +-40V. I like this device for the positive pre-regulator and I didn't see a reason I couldn't use it for the negative pre-regulator. I don't have much experience using buck converters for the negative voltage realm. ANy help on what could go wrong would be appreciated. Thanks

  • Hi Mark,

Most buck converters can be configured as a negative output (inverting buck boost). You will need to make sure that it can handle the voltage applied across the device (Vmax = Vin + |Vout|) and supply the required current.

Check out this app-note for design considerations.

  • Thanks this is exactly what I was looking for. I found some older TI app notes that were close to this however this is the best one by far.
