UCC29002: the detect problem between 24Vin and output current 8A-10A for 5Vout

Part Number: UCC29002
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40055

Hi,

There has detected a problem, and you can see the output table for two 5Vout.

Test Conditions:
24Vin, the current varies from 0.5A-10A, 5Vout full load (5A)
1. The 24V current is between 0.5A-3A, 24V Current share: normal, 5V Current share: normal
2. The 24V current is between 3A-8A, 24V Current share: normal, 5V Current share: abnormal (it may be worse than without this circuit)
3. The 24V current is between 8A-10A, 24V Current share: normal, 5V Current share: normal
May I ask why changing the 24V load will affect the 5V Current share

  • Hi Rock.

you should check with the buck TPS40055 controller , it has built in the input feedforward function , so during the 24V load increased the input of TPS40055 should be drop , so it also impact the feedback loop.

By the way , the 5V output load is only 5A , TI has many buck controller which can support up to 5A , they may don't need to add external cast to add the current share circuit.
