UCD3138A64: EAP/EAN ADXX VOLTAGE RATING

Hi Sir:

for UCD3138A,  in 5.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings, input voltage for all pins, 3.8V MAX; while in 5.5 Electrical Characteristics, MAX VOLTAGE for EAP-AGND is  1.998V, EAP-EAN 1.848V, Measurement range for voltage monitoring for ADC  is 2.5Vmax;

just want to know what happens for voltage beyond those  max value  defined in 5.5 while below the max value defined in 5.1; just wrong reading on front end /ADC or it could cause damage on IC?
