TPS76201 external bypass

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS76201, PTH08T220W

Hello,

Are there any specifics to take into consideration when using external bypass MOSFET? My application needs adjustable output from 0.8v to 5v (15A). Is TPS76201 optimal solution for these requirements?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • I don't think I fully understand  your design.  The TPS76201 is a 100mA LDO, but you have a 15A current requirement?  If you intended to say a 15mA output current, then the TPS76201 would work.  However, I suggest that you use the Power Quick Search tool to find a newer LDO that works with ceramic output caps.  There is nothing specific to the LDO that would affect your choice of bypass MOSFET.  It would probably be a good idea for you to contact your local distributor who can help with finding a good LDO and MOSFET selection for your specific application.

  • Yes, The current requirement is 15A. Searching further, I came across PTH08T220W/221W and that should also serve my purpose. LDO is not a requirement as dropout voltage is not of a concern. Constraints are, adjustable voltage (0.9v to 5v) and 15A current.

I will definitely contact local distributor.

    Thanks
