PMP5141 REVA REVB confusion

Hi ,

I plan to build the reference design PMP5141, directly from the gerber files attached. But i notice that the schematics is of version REVB and PCB files are for version REVA and also the bottom layer picture posted in this webpage shows a diode crookedly placed. Is there any changes to be done for the PCB ? Do i have to create a new pCB file from the schematics?

Kindly post your feedback.

Thanks,

Sudha

  • Sorry for the confusion.  In an effort to reduce cost, the pcb for a reference design isn"t usually respun for new revisions unless there are a large amount of modifications required for the new revision and a demand for more boards to be built.  The photo in the test report is the actual board that was tested to generate the report, and matches the Rev B schematic and BOM.  However the layout is at a Rev A level.

If you look closely at the photo, you will see D12 is the SOT-23 diode, located just to the right of the SOT-89 that is actually Q100, which did not exist in the original Rev A layout.  (Any components with reference designators >99 did not exist on the original layout Rev A layout.)

D8 is skewed as part of the modifications from Rev A to Rev B.

  • Thanks for the feedback. As the changes are minor, i'm proceeding with the gerber file and plan to make the changes as per the schematics .
