TPS61025 use on TPS61020 EVM?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61025, TPS61020, TPS61200

Dear Sir

Due to we can't find TPS61025 EVB in website.

May we use TPS61020 EVB to modify?

I will change IC from TPS61020 to TPS61025 and remove EVB "R3""R4".

Is other component  i need change?

  • You don't need to change anything actually.  The EVM is set to output 3.3V, which the TPS61025 is also set to.  So, results will be the same with testing either device.

But I would recommend looking into using newer devices which are smaller and don't require tantalum output caps, such as TPS61200 or TPS6125x series.

  • Dear Sir

    Many thanks for your reply..

when i design TPS61025 in myapplication, the"R3""R4" should be remove, right?

                                                         best regards,

                                                                              Bogey

  • Yes, for the fixed voltage versions of the TPS6102x, the FB pin should be left floating as indicated in the application circuits in the back of the D/S.

  • Dear Chris

    Good days,

I have test TPS61020 EVB and find TPS61020 can't be turn on when Vin = 0.9V(Vout set 3.3V no load).

The TPS61020 EVB can be turn on until Vin=1.1V.

I also add Rload=120ohm as datasheet define. the condition is the same.

May i check if I set up loss something? or TPS62010 can't be turn in 0.9V due to avoide inrush current or other reason?

Customer response me if tps6201x can't use  when low battery?

                                                             Best regards,

                                                                                          Bogey

  • Yes, per the spec on page 3 of the D/S, startup may not occur if Vin is less than 1.2V.  If you need to startup into lower voltages, you need to move to the TPS61200 family.

But frequently when batteries are that discharged, they won't hold a voltage when a load is placed on them.  So, they should be replaced at that point anyways with any converter.

  • Dear Sir,

May we check TPS61025 FB pin is also floating? Due to customer concern if any problem will occure when do pin to pin short test.

And datasheet have no show TPS61025 internal block.

                                                 Best regards,

                                                                   Bogey

  • Yes, for the fixed output voltage versions of the device, leave FB floating.  This is shown in the D/S.
