TL5001

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL5001

Hello,

I am working on a design that will use the TL5001. It is a DC-DC high Vout flyback converter. Unfortunately, the datasheet does not specify if a flyback configuration is inherently possible with this chip hence my enquiry if a similar design exist.
On a side note, even a simple test start (using dummy 1V on FB pin) is proving difficult at this stage. It seems to me that there is an internal condition not set correctly which prevents the output from switching.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • It is possible to configure this as a flyback. The below link is an example design using it in this topology. Hope this helps.

Is there a design constraint which led you to selecting the TL5001?

    Thanks,
    Anthony

  • Thank you for your quick response. My schematic is very similar to this bar the optocoupler connection. As to constrain, mostly price, but also voltage mode control. Some development today with the chip running and holding voltage through the ranges under load.
Will properly compensated feedback loop help reducing the output voltage ripple, or it will get to the need of additional output filtering, mosfet clamp etc. in order to achieve this? My primary inductor value is small and there is a fair amount of switching noise which transfers into feedback and output.

    Thanks,
    Dimitar
