LM5060 The frequency of internal charge pump

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5060

Dear support team,

Please tell me the frequency of internal charge pump.

I want to know it if there is any effect on the noise.

Best regards,

Tomoaki Yoshida

  • Hi Yoshida-san,

I could not find this information from the characterization data available. I am discussing with our IC design engineers to see if we can determine the original design's targeted value (or typical value). However, it is unlikely that we have characterization over temperature of this specific parameter.

    Thanks!
    Alex
  • Hi Yoshida-san,

Just wanted to let you know we have not forgotten about this and are continuing to work with design on getting this parameter.

    Thanks,
    Alex
  • Hi Alex,Thank you for your reply.I have to understand the current situation.
If there is progress, also please tell me the situation.Best regards,
    Tomoaki Yoshida
  • Hi Yoshida,

I spoke to our IC design engineers. They studied the design schematic, but could not find a simple way to calculate the oscillator frequency.

The only way left is to try to run a simulation, which will take some time to setup and run. Current ETA is the end of next week, or by 1/22.

In the meantime, our estimate is it is in the MHz range. Overall the node is high impedance, so there should be minimal ripple or noise. But nevertheless we are trying to get the simulated value, which will be better than just a "MHz" estimate.

    Thanks!
    Alex
  • Hi Alex,

    Thank you for your reply.

I'm looking forward to answer from you.

  • Hi Yoshida-san,

Can you provide more information about how this information would be used? For example, if your customer is trying to run simulations of a system level EMC environment, then they would need much more information than just frequency (of noise sources). If your customer is just trying to document all noise sources frequencies within their system, then this request seems less critical.

As you may have noticed from Alex's reply this is a lot of work and expense for TI if only for informational purposes. If more than just for information, then please provide more information and then we can go further.

  • Hi Eric-san,

They will do a noise test by their designed board.

There may be necessary to reduce emission noise of their board cause by the test result.

They would like to know a frequency of a charge pump of LM5060 because it may has an influence on emission noise.

There is not a problem in the present.

    Do you need other informations?

    Best regards,

    Tomoaki Yoshida

  • Hi Yoshida-san,

We were able to determine the frequency of the charge pump. It is 4MHz typical, but may vary +/- 30% over temperature. Note that this is an estimated/theoretical value based on design, not measured value.

    Thanks!
    Alex
  • Hi Alex-san,

Thank you very much for taking the time to verify the data.

Our customer becomes easier to analyze with this information.

    Best regards,

    Tomoaki Yoshida
