LM4510 Ripple current - inductor selection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4510

Hey,

i want to use an LM4510 boost converter.
Spec: VIN: 4.8V nom, VOUT 13V (OLED)
Iout = ~50mA

When i'm calculating I_LAVE with Eq. 3 i get about 170mA.
Ripple current should be about 30% of I_LAVE, so lets say 50mA.

When calcultating th Inductor with equation 3: Vin = 4.8V, D = 0.63, f_SW = 1MHz and I_Ripple = 50mA i get an inductor value of 60µH. Inductor range is about 4.7 to 15µH. Is it possible to use an smaller inductor, like 10µH? The converter would operate in a discontinous mode i think.

Thank you
Franz
